Dark grey half-round gutter on brackets along the eaves of a house, with a bungalow and its roofline in the background

Budget starting point: Munster Gutters publishes €1,000-€1,400 to replace uPVC guttering on a typical Cork semi-detached house, rising to €2,100-€2,800 for cast iron. Recommended Guttering publishes €150-€450 for a repair such as a leak, joint re-seal or bracket. These are individual providers' figures checked on 25 October 2026, not national averages or quotes for your house.

Published gutter replacement prices in Ireland

The table below comes from Munster Gutters' 2026 Cork replacement guide. They are that company's own ranges for its Cork service area. It states the figures include removing and disposing of the old system, new brackets, downpipes and outlets, and that a large or complex property can run higher. The page does not say whether VAT is included, so ask.

MaterialTypical semi-detached (about 20 m)Larger or detached (about 50 m)
uPVC€1,000-€1,400€2,900-€3,600
Aluminium€1,300-€1,800€3,600-€4,500
Cast iron (period or conservation)€2,100-€2,800€5,500-€6,500

For a second reference point, Recommended Guttering's cost guide publishes indicative 2026 ranges for a 3-bed semi of €950-€1,900 for uPVC replacement and €1,900-€3,400 for seamless aluminium. It states these include access equipment, materials and debris removal, and that VAT at 13.5% on residential work is not included in the ranges.

The two providers describe different scopes and service areas, so treat them as a range to plan around, not a price list. Compare quotes on the same metres of gutter, the same number of downpipes and the same material.

Repairs, cleaning and full roofline work

Not every leaking gutter needs replacing. Recommended Guttering's published 2026 ranges for a 3-bed semi separate the smaller jobs:

Work described by the providerPublished range (excl. VAT)Question for your quote
Gutter cleaning and flush-out€120-€280Are downpipes cleared and tested, and is debris taken away?
Gutter repair (leak, joint re-seal or bracket)€150-€450What is causing the leak, and is it a repair or a section replacement?
Downpipe repair or replacement, per pipe€120-€380Is the connection to the drain included?
Gutter guard or leaf filter€350-€900Which product, and does it suit your gutter profile?
Full roofline: gutters, fascia and soffit€2,800-€5,500Is the old timber fascia removed or capped, and is ventilation kept?

The parts of a roofline. A gutter-only quote covers the gutter, brackets, outlets and downpipes; a full roofline quote adds the fascia and soffit.

If the fascia boards behind the gutter are rotten, new gutters fixed to them will not last. Ask the fitter to check the fascia before quoting a straight gutter swap, and to say in writing if they find timber damage once the old system is off.

What changes the price of new gutters

  • Length: the total metres of gutter and the number of downpipes. A detached house can need more than twice the run of a semi.
  • Material: uPVC is the usual budget choice; aluminium costs more; cast iron is typically for period homes and conservation work.
  • Access: two-storey and three-storey houses, conservatories, extensions and tight side passages can need towers or scaffolding.
  • Condition behind the gutter: rotten fascia, damaged brackets or a poor fall add work.
  • Drainage: blocked or broken underground connections are a separate job from the gutters themselves.
  • VAT: check whether each quote is shown with or without VAT before comparing totals.

What should a guttering quote include?

  • Scope: each elevation covered, the metres of gutter and the number of downpipes, outlets and corners.
  • Material and profile: the product, colour and profile, for example half-round, square or ogee.
  • Removal: taking away and disposing of the old system.
  • Access: ladders, towers or scaffolding, and who arranges any access with neighbours.
  • Hidden work: how fascia repairs or extra brackets will be priced and approved if found.
  • Total cost: VAT position, payment terms and exclusions.
  • Aftercare: the written workmanship guarantee and any separate product warranty.

Before paying a deposit, confirm the business details and insurance, and make sure the payment request matches the business you agreed to hire.

Find gutter fitters near you

Browse our guttering directory and narrow the results by area, or see roofers, many of whom also fit gutters, fascia and soffit. Check that each business covers your address and the material you want before requesting a visit, or use our quote request form to describe the job once.

When you enquire, include the county, the house type, roughly how many sides need gutters and what you have noticed, such as overflowing in rain, a dripping joint or a sagging section. Photos taken safely from the ground help. Leave ladder work to a properly equipped professional.

Gutter cost questions

Is there one average gutter replacement cost for Ireland?

Not from the evidence used here. The published figures describe particular providers, house sizes and materials. A uPVC semi-detached job and a cast iron period house should not be averaged together for budgeting.

Should I repair or replace my gutters?

A single leaking joint or loose bracket is often a repair. Widespread cracking, sagging along the run or faded, brittle uPVC usually points to replacement. Ask the fitter to explain why, with photos, if they recommend replacing the whole system.

Are aluminium gutters worth the extra cost?

That depends on the house, how long you plan to stay and the look you want. Compare the warranty, the profile and the full installed price against a uPVC quote for the same metres.

Will these prices cover my house?

No. These are planning examples, not offers from TradesDirectory.ie. The fitter must measure the house and provide your own written quote.
